Since the early eighties, the cry of “WhoDat!!” has been heard by millions of people in New Orleans and the Great Gulf South Region. It was the beginning of an era, born in October of ‘83 in a small recording studio on Bienville Street with the inimitable voice of Aaron Neville, and the rather unpredictable voices and uncharacteristic antics of five New Orleans Saints players.
‘WhoDat’ grew to its first stage of fruition in 1987 as the Saints entered a playoff spot for the first time in the history of the team. The city and the people in the entire region wallowed in the sweet smell of success, but the jubilation was short-lived. The Saints fell to Minnesota that year, and had to begin the long journey in their quest for greatness yet again. It took some years, and they weren’t all pleasant, but each season the faithful fans stood by, waiting for any opportunity to shout out that now-familiar “WhoDat?” chant.
With the advent of a new spirit, born perhaps out of the depths of despair instilled by that horrible hurricane in 2005, the Saints continued their journey until February 7th, 2010 in Miami. Super Bowl 44 was under way, and the New Orleans Saints would go on to finally claim a sweet and well-deserved victory.
This website is dedicated to the fans. Those die-hard fans who, since 1967 wished and wanted and prayed and begged and pleaded with the heavens above to please, please allow ‘dem Saints’ to go marching in.
While it’s true that the coaches and the players are actually responsible for moving the football down the field, no one can deny that it is the support of the fans that has served as the glue that’s held the team together in bad times. For this, the fans can be proud.
And we’re proud to give every citizen of the great nation of Who Dat a place to come and gather… and to be one, and to rejoice.
